Job Duties

This position will serve in the unclassified servicepursuant to 124.11 (A) (9) of the Ohio Revised Code.

Serves as training administratorfor the Bureau of Parole; manages statewide training for all parole staff toinclude the annual statewide training plan; represents parole as a member ofthe DYS Training Advisory Committee; relieves bureau chief of a variety ofdifficult administrative duties; research, develop, formulate & implement policies& procedures for statewide parole staff training; conduct trainings; ensureongoing compliance with all training requirements of the American CorrectionalAssociation (ACA); oversee parole staff participation in training, providewritten & oral feedback & evaluation to site managers on participation;monitor & evaluate participant projects; conduct need assessments for continuousupdating of training modules; respond to correspondence; assist supervisor withadministrative duties (e.g. staff assignments, program development, committee/taskforce participation, interviews) related to DYS departmental training programs& initiatives; researches, develops and revises lesson plans for alltraining programs; manages employee training records audits for the Bureau ofParole along with the regional training coordinators for accuracy & completeness;other training related duties as assigned: attend training &/or conferencesto stay current with new techniques & trends in the management of training;respond to internal &/or external inquiries related to training.

Serves as Security Threat Groupadministrator for the Bureau of Parole; manages statewide efforts to reduce STGactivity for parole youth, serves as parole liaison for STG for DYS and otheragencies.

Performsother juvenile justice related work duties as assigned; represents Agency at meetingsand with professional organizations; provides regional management coverage in theabsence of parole supervisors and/or administrators; render rational and appropriatedecisions to reflect the vision, mission and values of the Agency.


Completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management science or public administration; 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in academic field commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on file; 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position or staff position involving planning, research &/or policy/procedure development.

-Or 4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in business administration management science or public administration.

-Or 1 yr. exp. as Program Administrator 1, 63122.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted aboveKnowledge of supervisory principles/techniques; business administration, management science or public administration; public relations; employee training & development; interviewing; public accounting. Ability to gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; define problems, collect data, establish facts & draw valid conclusions; deliver speeches before government officials & general public; write, letters, papers & reports; handle sensitive telephone & face-to-face inquiries & contacts with general public; interview job applicants to determine work best suited to them.Background Check Information
